DIY Crystal Ice Plates
Making DIY Crystal Ice Plates are easy and add such a beautiful impact to a party or event. Using fake ice crystals for a party or event can add crystal shimmer. In addition to enhancing plates, platters and vases, you could also sprinkle some fake ice on the table, serving centers and over mirrors. You could also add safe LED candle lights or illumination string lights under fabric for a beautiful effect.
This idea is perfect for a wedding reception, anniversary, white Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Frozen or white themed event. They sell fake ice in bulk and the ice is in multiple sizes. You can also sometimes purchase fake ice crystals at your local craft store or party store. Look in the wedding or floral supply section.

Supplies
These supplies will make 1-2 crystal plates between 10.5-12 inches. Just add more quantities for the number of plates you want to make. I made 4 plates so I needed three 16 oz bags of fake ice crystals.
- 16 oz (453.59) Fake Crushed Ice/Crystal Vase Filler
- E6000 Clear Adhesive
- 10.5 – 12 inch clear glass plate(s) or clear glass platters. Acrylic platters will work as well. It is just a matter of preference if you want the setting more acrylic or glass. Acrylic also works well if small kids will be attending your event. You can also check at your local department or home store for platters and plates.
- Craft applicators (optional) – use to preserve the E6000 so the tube does not dry out.

Instructions For DIY Crystal Ice Plates
- Start by filling your craft applicator with E6000. I like to use the applicators because the tube with constant use tends to dry shut. If you squeeze out what you need and then close the tube, it seems to last much longer.
- Do a fry fit of the ice crystal and make sure it does not overhang the plate. Start on the outer edge and apply a little glue on the back of the fake ice.
- Then repeat gluing on the fake ice crystals until you complete the plate.
- Allow the plate to fully dry 3-4 before you wipe off any smudges. Then add on top of a vase or candle holder or just place on the table. I filled a vase with smaller fake ice crystals and will add a LED tealight under the crystals the day of my event.
Another idea is to place the crystal ice plates on top of tall candle holders to add some height. This would be perfect for serving chocolate dipped strawberries, cookies, pinwheels, donut holes or mini desserts in mini parfait glasses.
