Faux Snow Balls
Making faux snow balls are supper easy and add extra sparkle to the winter holidays or party. These are also great accents for a table setting, winter wedding or Frozen party. The faux snow balls will work for any winter themed party or event.
You can display faux snow balls in various ways such as, placing several in a tall vase, adding to a table display on a white or silver table runner, or grouping several sizes in a large bowl.
Another great idea would be using these faux snow balls to make faux snowmen or even Olaf from Frozen. You could also place a small dowel in the snow balls to create a Christmas floral pick to place on a Christmas tree, wreath or garland. This is a fun craft to do with kids and they can help decorate without the fear of breaking anything.

Supplies
- Spray Adhesive or Mod Podge
- Floral Foam Balls – Multiple Sizes but the regular size is 2.8 – 3.0 inches (71mm), but other good sizes are 2.4 inches and 1.4 inches for the small size.
- Iridescent White Glitter – 16 ounces unless you are making just a couple, then get the 8 ounce size
- Drop cloth, tissue paper or protective surface covering
- Plastic bowl to catch the glitter
- ***Disposable Gloves***
- Goo Gone if you do this without gloves. It is hard to get glitter off your hands if you use adhesive spray.
- All purpose paint brush or foam brush if using Mod Podge
- Small cups or bowls to dry the snow balls
Directions For Faux Snow Balls
- Prepare your work surface. Put down paper or plastic over your work surface because glitter tends to get messy. So if you are using adhesive spray, it may overspray on surrounding areas.
- Then put on gloves. The first time I did a few balls I was not wearing gloves and it took a while to get off the glitter and the glue. Then I remembered I had some Goo Gone and that worked wonderfully. To avoid spending 15 minutes cleaning your hands, I strongly recommend just putting on gloves. Then you just pull them off when done.
- You can apply the glitter with Mod Podge or spray glue adhesive. The spray adhesive works faster but if you spray too much, the adhesive will eat through the foam ball.
- Cover the ball 3/4 of the way with Mod Podge or adhesive and then generously shake glitter over the ball over a container to catch the glitter.
NOTE: Make sure you do not spray over your container to catch the glitter. That way you can pour the excess glitter back into the bottle of glitter at the end. This will save money and you will not have to buy more glitter. So as long and glue does not get into your container, you can use the excess glitter that was shaken.
- Place the glittered snow ball in a small bowl or cup to dry. Allow to dry for at least an hour.
- Then apply glue to the rest of the ball and shake on more glitter to the rest of the ball. Allow to dry for at least an hour.
- The faux snow balls are ready! Decorate at will and the possibilities are endless. Scatter these on a table runner, around a centerpiece, in a large vase or make snowmen.
