Glitter Winter Branches
Glitter Winter Branches are very easy to make yourself. I have purchased these in stores before and decided to make them myself this time. These were so easy to make, I will never purchase again. So you only need a few supplies to get a very dramatic decoration.
I plan to use these for several display tables for a Winter Wonderland theme. To get the branches, I just went shopping around my yard before Spring and had plenty to choose from. So if you do not have a yard, find a nature park and go for a walk. You will find plenty of fallen branches.
Glitter Winter Branches can be made in any color that you can find spray paint for. Another thing that was fun to make, was the glitter mix. You can make with various glitters you have on hand or purchase. I also prefer metallic spray paints or high gloss spray paints. Because they add a shimmer to the branches that reflect in different light.
This idea is great for Christmas, New Year’s, anniversaries, weddings, showers, centerpieces or display tables. I think this idea would be prefect for a Frozen themed party as well.

Directions For Glitter Winter Branches
- Gather branches. You can buy branches on-line or go for a nature walk. So collect broken or fallen branches. Another good place to get branches is in your yard. Cut them in the fall or winter and allow them to dry out for about a week. So I do not recommend using branches in the growing season. Because it takes them longer to dry out.
- Make the glitter mix. In a large bowl or container, mix various glitters of different textures and colors that will match your theme. I made silver branches for a winter wonderland theme with white and silver glitters.
- Prepare your surface. I like to spray outdoors due to the overspray. So you still need to protect the table or patio you are spraying over or you will have spray paint and adhesive everywhere.
- Spread out the branches on the drop cloth and put on gloves.
- I like to prime almost any paint job, so I sprayed with white primer first but you could skip this step and do more coats of spray paint.
- Spray the branches and allow to dry for about 30 minutes.
- Then flip over the branches and spray the other side and remaining gaps. So allow to dry for 30 minutes. Every inch does not have to be covered since you will be spraying with spray paint.
- Next, spray with spray paint allowing them to dry 30 minutes between coats and turning over.
- Then spray with adhesive spray in sections and sprinkle with glitter mix. So you must work fast and in small sections because the adhesive dries fast. So spray a little, sprinkle a little and continue on. It is critical you wear gloves when doing this or you will spend a long time getting this off your hands.
- Now, allow to dry for at least 2 hours before moving indoors.
- You now have a glitter winter branch. So leave as is or decorate with embellishments.
- Add crystals, butterflies, fairies or faux flowers to the glitter winter branches. Then place a few glitter winter branches in a large vase or by themselves. So lay these across a display table or enhance a centerpiece as I plan the do.
