HP Stained Glass Wood Ornaments

HP Stained Glass Wood Ornaments are really easy to make. These Harry Potter themed ornaments are perfect for the Harry Potter fan. When my kids wanted a Harry Potter themed tree, it was very hard to find ornaments at a affordable price. So, I decided to make most of them myself. I received so many compliments on our tree, I decided to share how I made them. In my DIY section, I have many posts about the various ornaments that I made.

I like this craft because you do not have to be an excellent crafter to make these. Also, small kids can help make these too. There are not a lot of supplies required to make these either. This is a great party activity to do with kids. They can make their own Harry Potter ornament in the house of their choice. I would recommend pre-painting the wood first if you plan to do this for a party or event. That way everything has enough time to dry. These also would make great party favors.

Supplies

2.5 in x 3.5in wood cut-out rectangles – you need at least 4

Mod Podge Gloss
Paint Brush and Tray
Acrylic paints in Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green. I like the metallics for the extra sheen.
65 lb Regular white card stock
Color Printer
Scissors
Twine, rope ribbon or thin ribbon
Hot glue or regular glue if you don’t have the wood shapes with the hole in it
Drop cloth or scrap paper to cover your surface you are working on

Directions For HP Stained Glass Wood Ornaments

Start by finding the images you want to print on the internet and save them down to your computer.

Note: Any images that you find on the internet are for personal use only. If you plan on selling items made from images found on the internet, you must get permission of the image owner and they may charge a license fee. Please note that any images seen on Major Gates are for personal use only, unless otherwise stated.

Start by painting one side of the wood shape and allow to fully dry. This is about 2 hours.
Then, print out the images. I printed 4 rows x 3 columns and 3 rows x 3 columns. The size will depend on the size of the wood shapes you have. I use a free application called Photoscape X (not affiliated) that fits my needs. They do have a paid version but so far, I have not needed it. Here is the link http://x.photoscape.org
Next, cut out the images and allow the ink to dry.
Now, paint the other side of the wood shape and allow to fully dry.
Next, place the cut image on the wood shape with Mod Podge. Once it is in position, paint the top of the image with Mod Podge. Allow to dry for 2 hours.
