Making a party jeopardy game does take a bit of time to create.  Most of time is spent finding the questions for the game, but I found that to be fun, since I learned so much about the topics.  So making the game is so much fun and customizing to your party or event, will mean so much to your participants.

I will be sharing how to make a party jeopardy game for a Christmas party.  The game centers around trivia separated into five categories or topics.  So the categories that you choose, is what makes your jeopardy game unique.  Try to pick topics related to the event, holiday or party theme.  Then your guests will appreciate this attention to detail.

So if you do not have the time to search for the Questions & Answers, I have created a download that has it all.  You just have to print, cut, paste and decorate the board.  Click here to purchase the download for Christmas Jeopardy:  https://majorgates.com/product/christmas-jeopardy-game-1-download/

Directions For Jeopardy Game

  • So I like to start by applying the bulletin border or handmade border.  Then after that, apply the border with hot glue.

Tri-fold Board

  • Then I like to print out the title header and glue it to the top of the board with a glue stick.  I use my Silhouette Cameo machine to cut out the letters, but you can also hand cut out letters printed on card stock.  So you can also print out the titles in block wording, and they just cut out the rectangles.  Another option would be to buy pre-cut letters, and then just glue them on with a glue stick.
  • Next print out your topics for the jeopardy game.  So look for interesting fonts for a special touch.

  • Then I use one of the presets on Microsoft Word and print 4 per page by creating a table with just 4 boxes.  So I like to use the card stock to print the topics.  They are approximately 5 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall.

Headers

  • Next, cut out each topic box.
  • Then divide the decorative card stock into rectangles, while tracing slightly larger than the topic cards.  So I can unusually cut about 4 per 12 x 12 pieces of card stock.  They are approximately 6 inches wide x 4 1/2 inches tall.

Card Stock

  • Next, apply the topic cards to the front side of the decorative card stock.  So do not use a glue gun, or it will not be flat.  If you are using glitter card stock, you will have to apply a generous amount of glue.

Christmas Jeopardy

  • Now, print out the jeopardy game answers and cut them out.  So you can print these on regular copy paper.  They are approximately 4 1/2 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall.

Christmas Questions

  • Next, print out the points each of the jeopardy questions are worth.  These are approximately 4 1/2 – 5 inches wide x 3 1/2 inches tall. The easiest way to do this is to type up everything first in a document.  That way you can move around the questions and answers to the point value that is correct.  Then, this will also create an accurate and organized answer key for the jeopardy game host.

Numbers

Q&A Sheet

  • So I like to do a dry fit of all the questions before I glue them to the board, so I can make sure they are spaced out properly and that everything fits.

Jeopardy Game

  • Then once you are pleased with the placement of the questions, then glue them on with the glue sticks.  Again, don’t use the glue gun or you will have bumps and it will not lay flat.  Then just apply one layer of tape over the top of the numbers and apply over the questions.  So the numbers are easily removed by just pulling off the numbers when a team selects and topic and point value.

How To Play Party Jeopardy

Start by dividing your guests into two or three teams.  Let each team choose their own team names.  Then each team chooses a team captain or speaker that will answer for the team.  So the order goes by the team captains choosing a number and the host writes down a number and who ever gets the closest goes first and the second closest next.

You will also need a chalk board, clip board, or dry erase board to keep score.  How you assign points can vary.  You can go through the trouble of subtracting points, or my preferred way is to just allow the other team to guess if one team guesses wrong.  Sometimes I have had a few glasses of wine, and the last thing I want to do is a bunch of math.

So if a team guesses wrong, I give the other team(s) a chance to steal (whatever team captain raises their hand first) but if they guess wrong, they are not penalized with points either but can gain points and retains their turn.  Therefore I give about 45 seconds for the team to converse and provide an answer.

The controlling team continues to choose questions until they miss one.  So whoever has the most points at the end wins.  Then take a group picture of the wining team with the score board.

Make what ever rules you like, just make sure you read the rules to the teams before you start the game.  So don’t forget to assign a time length a team has to answer the question before they lose their turn (I usually give 60 seconds).  Also, do not make the questions too difficult or the participants will not want to play.  So choose the questions that someone could take a good guess.  Then have fun and make this a tradition at your parties!
