Wednesday Party Planning Ideas
I decided to share my Wednesday Party Planning Ideas for a great party. Â I really love this theme because it is perfect for all ages and is great for girls and co-ed parties. Â The series reminds me of the Harry Potter series with a new flavor. Â Having a Wednesday themed party allows you to have a mini Halloween any time of the year. Â I also love the colors of purple and black but is also great dark blue and black. Â If your party is on the more mature side, add in more Halloween type decorations.
Once you decide on the date and time, pick out your invitations and decide if you will mail them or do email/text invites. Â Your invitation does not have to match your party decorations but they always can. Â People tend to focus on the party room decor more than the invitation, so if you come across something you like more in decor, feel free to change it up.
Another thing I think is important to decide in the beginning is the party colors. Â Most Wednesday parties are in purple and black but you can change it up to dark blue and black and accent with pearlized white, silver or gold. Â Then, once you decide on the color pallet, start making or buying your decorations. Â You can also order from party planning companies many of the things you want, like centerpieces, cakes, balloon designs, etc.
When planning a party, think of your design space and take pictures if it is not in your home. Â Then think of the tables you will want. Â For example, the guest of honor table, the guest tables, food bar/candy bar, gift table and dessert table. Â Visualize the main focal point to represent you theme.

Wednesday Party Decorations
When planning the Wednesday party decorations, determine what you will order, buy yourself or make. Â The decor depends on budget, imagination and timing. Â The more time you have, the more ornate the party can be if the budget allows. Â Keep in mind that if you are making most of the decorations, allow yourself 2 months ahead of the planned event. Â Gathering the supplies to make your vision come to light takes longer than you think. Â Sometimes what you need is out of stock or on back order and you need time to get what you need.
Start by getting or making large pieces of Wednesday themed decorations. Â These could be prompts, backdrops, balloon arches or kits, Wednesday signage or posters. Â So these types of large decorations are your focal points. Â Check out Etsy for more detailed and custom designs.
Then buy or make the accent pieces to further enhance the party. Â These are things like: Â gift/favor bags, gable boxes, signs in frames (like Thank You For Coming, Candy Bar, The Menu, Please Take A Favor, etc.), food labels, chip bag labels, water bottle labels, candy labels, etc. Â For the Wednesday Designs below, click here: Â https://majorgates.com/product/wednesday-party-bundle-download/
Serve-ware and tables – you can go with Wednesday themed plates and cups but to add some contrast and not overdoing the theme, try non-themed plates that match your colors.  The best part is you can use the extras again if they don’t have any personalized wording on them.  Get black or purple table lines or Wednesday themed.  You can accent the table linens with spider web table runners.
Centerpieces – get creative! You can buy the pre-made centerpieces that will look great, but to take it to another level, design your own centerpieces. Â For example, you could do small bouquets of black flowers with Wednesday picks coming out and accented with crystals. Â Make spooky arrangements or unusual things, like groupings of potion bottles on decorated trays.
Here is my listing for Wednesday specific potion bottle labels here: Â https://majorgates.com/product/wednesday-halloween-wizard-potion-bottle-label-bundle-download/
- Decorate with black cob webs and/or netting, flameless candles, spiders, skeletons and bats.
- Make a crystal ball and surround it with black flowers and Wednesday cutouts. Â These would also make great centerpieces.
Party Games & Entertainment
To get the download for the Wednesday Jeopardy/Trivia Game shown above, click here: Â https://majorgates.com/product/wednesday-trivia-jeopardy-game-download/
- Games – have a few games to play – examples are: Â trivia games, word scramble, scavenger hunts, BINGO, murder mystery
- Rent a popcorn machine or cotton candy machine
- Photo Booth or selfie station – don’t forget fun prompts for guests to take pics with
- Watch the Wednesday series – great for slumber parties
- Make something spooky and fun – drinks that smoke, food art, crafts that make something theme related or painting.
- Don’t forget the prizes or raffle gifts. If you don’t have enough games, have a raffle and give small gifts to lucky guests. Â So that other’s don’t feel left out, make gift/favor bags or gable boxes with goodies inside.
Wednesday Food Ideas
Halloween or Spooky Serving Containers – put some things in large cauldrons, dips in open head skulls, spider themed bowls, black bowls, black or purple tiered pedestal servers, black tiered cupcake stands, and handmade Halloween bowls/trays. Â Don’t forget to decorate around the food.
Charcuterie Numbers – Get the large numbers to represent the age of the birthday girl/boy or the year and fill with great snacks that you would put on a charcuterie board. Â Just don’t forget to line the numbers with wax paper before putting the snacks in. Some ideas for Wednesday colored food are: Â purple grapes, blueberries, blackberries, cheese with purple/blue veining, mini chocolate covered donuts, chocolate covered pretzels in purple/black, raisons, darker color processed meats, purple candies, purple icing sugar cookies, and black licorice.
Here are some great Food Ideas that you should have food labels for as well. Â Food labels are great for parties and gatherings because they allow the host to mingle and spend time at the party without answering constantly what something is. So make sure you put if something contains common things people are allergic to like: Â nuts, shellfish, eggs, etc.
Here are some great food ideas for a Wednesday themed party: Â meatballs, chips and salsa, mini pizzas, sausages wrapped in breadsticks or croissants to look like mummies or fingers, pinwheels, sliders, chicken wings, spaghetti, deviled eggs, wrapped asparagus, charcuterie in a coffin or put chips in a coffin, R.I.P dessert cups, spooky cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries and dark colored food.
