Easy Yellow Rice

Learn how to make this easy yellow rice. Â It is delicious and flavorful. Â I used to buy the box or packets of yellow rice, but wanted to start making it myself, so I knew exactly what I was putting in my food. Â I feel better knowing I am serving my family and friends healthier meals and can describe in plain English all the ingredients. So I did use organic chicken broth and stock but that is optional. This recipe can be adjusted with spices per tastes as well. Â For example, I used an extra bay leaf some extra pepper for deeper flavor. Â My family just loves it, so don’t be surprised if you end up making more, or next week they ask for it again. Â Enjoy!

Ingredients For Yellow Rice
- 4 cups of Rice – This can be Jasmine, basmati or other long grain rice
- 1 medium onion – finely chopped
- 1 stick of salted butter
- 32 ounce carton (1qt-946ml) of chicken stock
- 1 can (14.5oz-411g) of chicken broth
- 1 cup of water
- 3 teaspoons of ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 2 Tablespoons of dried parsley flakes (optional)
- 3/4 teaspoon of white ground pepper
- 4 teaspoons of minced garlic or 4 garlic gloves minced
- 2 bay leaves

Supplies
- Mini chopper or sharp knife
- Cutting board
- Large deep skillet with lid
- Measuring cup and measuring spoons

Directions For Easy Yellow Rice
- Start by chopping the onion fine with a knife or a mini chopper.

- Then melt the stick of butter in a large deep skillet on medium heat. Â Now, add in the chopped onions, minced garlic, cumin and bay leaves. Â So you can use 2 or 3 bay leaves depending on the size. Â If they are small, use 3 bay leaves.

- Next, stir in the turmeric, parsley flakes, white ground pepper, and rice, while continuing to stir for 1-2 minutes.

- Now, add in the chicken stock, water, and chicken broth and bring to a boil.

- Then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with the lid and cook for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.

- Remove from the heat, stir well and serve.


- Â Also, you can store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, just make sure you use a clean spoon each time you access the container, so the rice does not get contaminated.
