Fried Shrimp
This is a great recipe for fried shrimp with a great crust that is similar to restaurants. If you make this fried shrimp recipe, you will not have any leftovers. It is perfectly seasoned and the texture creates the perfect bite. This type of fried shrimp recipe is sometimes referred to as “Bang Bang Shrimp”.
I also will share the dipping sauce I make to accompany this fried shrimp recipe. It is a creamy sauce with a touch of spice. So if you would like the dipping sauce to be a little more spicy, just add another teaspoon of hot sauce and blend well.
I have never had any leftovers but if you had to re-heat, start with a cold oven and heat to 355 degrees Fahrenheit. That way, the fried shrimp will be heated through and crispy again. Enjoy!

- 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
Supplies

- Knife

Directions For Fried Shrimp
- In a large bowl, fill with 2 cups of ice and then cover the ice with water to make an ice bath.
- Peel and devein the shrimp and place the shrimp in the ice bath as you peel each shrimp.
- Once you have peeled all the shrimp, add 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice to the ice bath and stir the shrimp to clean off any impurities. Then rinse the shrimp in cold water, disposing off the ice. Return the shrimp to the bowl.
- Season the shrimp with the seasonings above and mix with your hands.
- Next, in a large bowl, mix all of the dry ingredients well and set to the side.
- Then in another bowl, mix the eggs and water with a fork or whisk and set to the side.
- Pre-heat oil in frying pan or fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Dip each shrimp in the egg mixture, then the dry mixture and place in the fryer basket. Do not overload the fryer basket. The fried shrimp should not be stacked but placed next to each other. You can fry in batches. Place cooked fried shrimp in the oven to stay warm.
- Fry the shrimp for 4-6 minutes on 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Drain on paper towels and serve while warm.
- You can either drizzle with the sauce or serve the sauce to dip or eat by itself.
Let me know how it turns out!
Directions For The Shrimp Dipping Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix together hot sauce, mayonnaise, miracle whip, sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar and chopped green onions.
- Chill for 20 minutes for the flavors to deepen and then serve. I make this dip before I start the prep of the shrimp, so that is ready to go once the shrimp is ready.
