Meatball Subs
Meatball subs can be made with ground turkey or ground beef. When you make a delicious meatball, you should try it in a submarine roll. Meatball subs are one of the great sandwiches that are sure to fill you up. These are great to make on game days or family get togethers.
I will share how I make my meatball subs and feel free to tweak the recipe to your needs. This time I made these with ground turkey, but feel free to make with ground beef or both. Also, try some new things as toppings or different cheeses.
You can also half the recipe if you have a small household. So you can make the whole batch and freeze the leftovers. These subs also stay warm and taste great for lunch if you warm them and then wrap in foil.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds of ground turkey or ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups of Italian bread crumbs (add more if meat will not form into a ball)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 Tablespoon of dried Italian seasoning
- 2 Tablespoons of dried parsley flakes
- 1 Tablespoon of granulated garlic or garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
- 1 teaspoon of garlic salt, or seasoning salt or regular salt
- 2 teaspoons of coarse black pepper
- 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 2 – 32 oz jars of your favorite pasta sauce – I like Classico Tomato & Basil. You only need one jar if you halved the recipe.
- Shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese (to top the sandwich)
- 1 package of slice provolone cheese
- 1-2 cups of vegetable oil for frying
Supplies
- Large Bowl
- Large Frying Pan
- Measuring Cup
- Measuring Spoons
- Large Saucepan
- Plate
- Paper Towels
Directions
- Start with separating the ground turkey with your hands in a large bowl.
- Then add the eggs, bread crumbs and all the seasonings. Next, mash the ingredients in a bowl with your hands and form into 1 1/2 inch balls.
- Pre-heat oil in frying pan on medium high heat. Then fry the meatballs until brown on each side. So this is about 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Then drain on paper towels.
- Warm up the pasta sauce in a large saucepan, then add in the meatballs and cover with sauce. Feel free to add more seasoning to the pasta sauce for your tastes.
- I like to warm up my sub rolls in the oven for a few minutes, so they are a little firm and crispy. Then line the sub rolls with 1-2 provolone cheese slices. Next add the meatballs and any extra sauce you desire.
- Top the meatball sub with mozzarella cheese if you want more cheese! Enjoy!
