Oreo Dirt Dessert

Oreo Dirt Dessert

If you have ever been at a party or event and Oreo Dirt Dessert was on the menu, you probably wondered why they were serving dirt.  It is not actual dirt but a delicious Oreo cream dessert that is light and fluffy.  I love this dessert because it is no bake and can be made the day before.  It also has few ingredients and is very easy to make.  This recipe is perfect for birthday parties, backyard barbecues, and holidays.  I made this as my sons cake for his Harry Potter birthday party.

You can top this Oreo Dirt Dessert with gummy worms, mini Oreo’s, whole Oreo’s or whole strawberries dipped in orange colored white chocolate to look like carrots.   Another idea for Halloween is to place Halloween candies on top.  You can also decorate with mint sprigs with garden theme notes.  You can serve in individual cups, make layers as a parfait or in a large bowl.

Supplies

  • Hand Mixer
  • 2 bowls (medium and large)
  • Spatula
  • Gallon Freezer bag
  • Saran Wrap
  • Serving Bowl

Directions For Oreo Dirt Dessert

Oreo Dirt Dessert

  • Beat or crush the whole bag of Oreo’s in gallon size freezer bag to look like dirt.  You can also use the flat side of a meat mallet to crush.
  • Blend cream cheese and powdered sugar with a fork in a medium bowl. Do not use a mixer.

Cream Cheese and Sugar

  • In a large bowl, mix the pudding and milk with the hand mixer on low setting until blended.  Then add blended cream cheese mixture on medium speed until blended.

French Vanilla Pudding

  • Now add in the cool whip by folding in with the spatula.  Do not use the blender.  Fold in like you are flipping over pancakes over and over.  So, continue folding until the mixture is uniform in color and the deep yellow is no longer prevalent from the pudding.
  • Then pour the creamy mixture into the bottom of a large bowl you plan to serve the dessert in.  Next, add the crushed cookie mixture on top.

Crushed Oreo Cookies

  • Chill overnight or for at least 4 hours.
  • It is ready to serve!  Scoop into small cups or bowls.  You could also top with any topping you choose, like gummy worms, strawberries or candy that matches your theme.
