Chocolate Frog Box Ornaments
This Christmas, make Harry Potter inspired Chocolate Frog Box Ornaments to hang on the tree. We have a Harry Potter Christmas tree for my boys who are huge fans. It was a challenge finding ornaments to fill up the tree, so I decided to make some. So we watched the movies, and then wrote a list of cool ornaments that we thought we could make to fill up the Christmas tree.
I love the way these Chocolate Frog Ornaments turned out. They also are pretty easy to make. I also think these would look good with clear translucent or iridescent glitter sprinkled on the side for that extra sparkle. Maybe when I make a few more, I will try it out and share how it turns out. So make these for your home, or as a gift to a Harry Potter fan.

Directions For Chocolate Frog Ornaments
- Locate the frog box pattern on the internet by doing and image search and then save down to your computer.
NOTE: Images found on the internet are for personal use only. You can not sell products from images found on the internet unless you get permission from the image owner. Images on Major Gates are only for personal use only. You will have to track down the image owner to re-produce the image for the sale of goods.
These are the images I liked and used.
- Print one frog box pattern per page on heavy weight card stock. I used 2 different patterns to see if one was easier than the other but they both required many folds and cuts. So I preferred the Cinereplicas image because it was easier to fold. I printed using a free photo editing software called PhotoScape. They also offer a paid option but the free version has worked out for me so far. Here is the link and I am not affiliated with them: http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php
- Cut out the frog box patterns with sharp scissors. Cut out the notches or tabs. So be careful not to cut off the tabs and folds.
- Use bone folder tool to go along the seams of the printed chocolate frog box.
- Fold along the pattern dots because as you fold the box the seams should align evenly.
- Place a dab of glue on the tabs and start to glue one side at a time starting with the bottom of the box. If the frog box pattern that you selected does not have a tab, use a small piece of tape to secure on the inside of the box. Then hot glue the seams and flaps so the bottom of the box is secure.
- On the top part of the box, apply a small piece of tape to hold the edges together before you get a chance to glue it. If the frog box template has tabs, just glue the tab and fold onto the box.
- Next, apply a thin line of hot glue on the side of “F” and then fold over the other side to seal. It will form the dome top.
- Then once all edges are glued and secure, fold the top of the box into the bottom of the box. So, for these ornaments, hot glue the interior top edge and secure inside of the bottom part of the box.
- Now, paint the Mod Podge on the back of the box first. Allow it to dry for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Next, paint the sides and top of the box and allow to fully dry. The box will have a shinny sheen once dry.
- With the craft knife, cut small circles or squares at the top of the box that are large enough to fit the ribbon.
- Then push in the ribbon and secure with hot glue. The ornament is done!
