Easter Celebration Tips
Easter is such a wonderful time to spend with family and friends. In this post, I will share my Easter celebration tips for having a memorable holiday. So, if you are anything like me and like some form of holiday decor throughout the year, I put my Easter decor out after the new year. I do it then, because as I am putting away my Christmas decorations, I come across my Easter decorations and like to get into the bright colors for Spring. So seeing those Spring colors on winter days, sure makes me smile.
For my family, Easter is a time of remembrance and thankfulness. It is also a time to spend time with family and friends. In addition, to celebrating the reason for the holiday, we also have some fun. So part of getting everyone into Spring and Easter is doing things that bring togetherness. So, I start with the decorations, planning a time for celebrating and then the menu and games. I will share my tips for having a great Easter Celebration!

Easter Celebration Tips
- Let family and friends know you are inviting them over, at least 3 weeks ahead. Then, decide if you want to do your event on Good Friday, Easter Saturday or Easter Sunday.
- Next, plan the menu. Food always brings people together, so decide if you want to prepare the food or if you want to ask a few others to bring something. Then determine if you want to do a brunch or delicious dinner. In addition, try to add fruits and citrus to salads and to roasted meats. Some great suggestions for Easter dishes include:
- Appetizers: Spinach-Artichoke Dip, Deviled Eggs, Mini Quiche, Meatballs, Croissants
- Meats: Ham, Duck, Lamb, Whole Chicken – meats tend to be baked or glazed surrounded with bright veggies or fruits
- Starches: Potato Salad, Scalloped Potatoes, Rice Pilaf, Buttermilk Biscuits, Pasta Salad, Macaroni and Cheese
- Veggies: Asparagus, Brussel Sprouts, Green Beans, Snap Peas, Broccoli Slaw, Deluxe Salad, Potato Salad
- Desserts: Carrot Cake, Coconut Cake or Pie, Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Cake, Strawberries and Cream Cake, Bundt Cake, Cute Cupcakes
- Drinks: Champagne Punch, Strawberry Mint Tea, Classic Sweet Tea
- Now, determine how you will entertain. Just don’t forget the real meaning of Easter and include that in your celebration. We like to play a few games, like jeopardy, taboo, trivia, minute-to-win it games, poker keno, bingo, or cards. I recommend picking 3-4 games max. That way you can take your time and really have fun. Then at the end, hand out trophies, Easter themed prizes, or sweets. So I like to make small batches of cookies, candies, or mini-cakes as prizes. Who doesn’t love a cute, sweet dessert?
- For the little ones….Here are some ideas.
- Scavenger Hunt
- Easter Egg Hunt – consider stuffing some of the eggs with things other than candy. Some ideas are: stickers, money, stamps, toy cars, bath bombs, finger puppets, chapstick
- Easter Crafts – painting eggs, Easter assembly kits, coloring sheets, wood cut outs, paper crafts
- Easter Egg Toss
- Jelly Bean Pick Up
- Minute-To-Win-It games for kids
- Spring face painting
- Decorate! Easter decorations are beautiful and light. So decorate with green grass, rabbits, ducks, speckled eggs, giant eggs, wreaths, Peeps, and so much more. Some people leave up the Christmas tree and then decorate the whole tree in Easter colors. They are fantastic and such conversation starters! Also, don’t forget the tableware, serve-ware, flatware, napkins, and just have fun with it.
- Another fun thing to do is have a photo wall with easter cut outs. So, this is so great to do with loved ones. These memories really capture wonderful times spent together for the holiday. Just purchase one or make a backdrop and hang on a wall.
- Consider treat bags for everyone. The kids are happy with a Easter Basket but have some cute mini things for the teens and adults too. So, use your imagination of what to put in them. Everyone will appreciate a little treat.
