Food and Candy Party Tent Labels

 

I love using food and candy tent labels for my events and parties.  They are great because by labeling the food, the guests and host can enjoy the party more.  Guests can be selective in what they choose.  It reduces waste and gives visibility to potential food allergies.  For buffet or serve yourself type parties and events, the host(s) can spend more time with guests instead of answering constantly what something is.

Once you try using food labels it will be hard to stop.  Food and candy party tent labels also contribute to a lovely display and can be bought or made.  You can buy the ones that you simply write on or purchase ones that you easily edit by inserting text.  You can buy these in any theme as well or design yourself if you have software design skills.

 

I also like to make mini treat bags with goodies inside and attach a candy tent label at the top.  The presentation of these on a platter or large bowl will wow your guests.  You can also make a few to just display on the main presentation table.

Food and Candy Tent Label Instructions

Another great thing about using food and candy tent labels is that you don’t need a lot of supplies to make them.  Most labels are approximately between 3.5″ – 4″ wide x 2.5″ tall when folded.  All you need is the following:

• • Color printer

• • Paper of choice – (I recommend card stock – either regular 65 lb or heavy).

• • Sharp scissors

• • Stapler (for candy bags)

• • 3.5 inch wide candy bag (for candy bags)

• Start by creating the design or purchasing a template.
• Then download the file and insert any text.  You can also find sellers that will customize and add all your text for you, print them and ship them to you on Etsy.com.
• Next, print the labels, 4 to a page on card stock.  Regular copy paper is too flimsy and the food tent may not stand up firmly but if that is all you have, it will be okay.  If you purchased a digital file, it will already be set to 4 to a page.  You just have to zoom in and insert your text.

There are also a few tips when printing.

• • Change your printer settings to ignore the preset margins or make them zero.
  • Then, change the print quality to high resolution or best or whatever the highest setting is.
  • Next, change the paper to the type of paper you are using.
• Cut off any white trim and then fold the food labels in half.  I use a bone folder tool to make the fold smooth, but you could also use a credit card.

 

How do you add text to a digital download?

 

Once you download the file, you can insert text on the PDF or PNG files from any editing application/service such as Canva.com (recommended due to font and color options and it is free and easy to use). You could also insert text using any image editor, MS Word, PhotoscapeX (also free and what I use for most of my printing), Adobe PDF Editor, etc. For Canva.com, you just create a free account and start editing. Canva has tons of free fonts to meet your needs.  I am not affiliated with any of these but have used them to see what worked best for me.  You could even use Power Point to edit or create a label.  Just enlarge the file by zooming in and then insert the text.  Don’t forget to save the file, as you will probably type over many of the labels for the whole menu.  That is it!  Have fun and a great event or party!
