Harry Potter Food Tents

Make these Harry Potter Food Tents for your next party or event. Custom food tents can be made for any occasion. I love to make food tents, so that I can enjoy my guests and guests know what they are eating without asking you. It is fun to make food labels with a theme, so no matter the occasion, create you own food tent labels.

These food tents are pretty easy to make. So don’t skimp on this step when you customize a party. I had lots of fun making these Harry Potter Food Tents for my twins 11th birthday. It was great to theme the food labels around the Harry Potter theme. Don’t forget to list on the food tent if the food item contains common food allergies such as, shellfish, nuts, or alcohol(if around kids).

Also, consider typing up a menu and placing in a picture frame. I get them from my local dollar store, then print them on cardstock and insert into a picture frame. Then I place several of these around, so that guests know what is on the menu.

Supplies

Cardstock – I used parchment, white and black
Scrapbook paper – If you don’t want to print a special pattern, many scrapbook pads will have what you are looking for.
Scissors
Glue Sticks
Bone Folder Tool
Silver Gel Pen
Craft Mat
Scoring board or ruler
Color Printer

Directions For Harry Potter Food Tents

Determine the colors you want to use that match the theme of your party or event.
Use scrapbook paper of your choice or print on regular card stock the pattern of your choice. So search the internet for backgrounds for your theme or color and save the image to your computer.

NOTE: Images found on the internet are for personal use only. So if you plan to sell these, you must get permission of the image owner and they may charge a fee.

First, create a background template. So I made these 6 inches x 4 inches. Then I traced the template onto black card stock with a silver gel pen.

Cut out the backgrounds, then fold over and smooth with a bone folder tool or you can smooth with a credit card.

Next, print out your food labels. I printed out the labels on 8 1/2 x 11 inch parchment card stock to give them the old world feeling. Then I used a free Harry Potter font that I found on the internet and downloaded to my computer. I also found elegant old word labels on the internet and typed the names of my food items. So I printed 8 per page.

Then cut 2 mm strips with the scrapbook or printed card stock. I use a scoring board, so that the lines are even and straight. So if you don’t have a scoring board, use a ruler to measure out the lines and cut with scissors. Also, you could also use ribbon instead of strips of paper.

I decided to save paper and cut the strips into 1 1/2 inch lengths and glue on each side since it would get covered with the label anyway. So if you decide to use ribbon, this is great method for saving ribbon.

Next, glue the back side of the strips and add to the black card stock tents.

Then apply glue to the back side of the food label and apply evenly over the strip side of the tent card.

Your Harry Potter food tent label is ready to display. Display around food items to accompany a menu. In addition, if the food contains something you want to point out, make sure you put it on the label. So this includes nuts, seafood, pork, alcohol, etc.
