Harry Potter Jelly Slugs

Making Harry Potter Jelly Slug treat bags are easy.  They are perfect for any Harry Potter themed event.  Put these Harry Potter Jelly Slugs in favor bags, on a sweets table or create Honey Dukes.  These are great surprises in lunch kits as well.

Gummy worms are perfect for this Harry Potter treat.  I like to use Trolli’s because they have a sugar coating on them so they do not stick together in the bag.  I decided to create Honey Dukes for my twins Harry Potter themed birthday party.  This was such a hit at the party.  Kids love to shop for the candy they like just as if they were at Honey Dukes.

I recommend making these Harry Potter Jelly Slugs for any occasion.  They are simple to make and are just fun!

Supplies

• Pen or Pencil
• Craft Mat or hard surface (I use a craft mat for almost all my projects so I do not mess up my counters or tables).
• Scissors
• Glue Stick
• White Card Stock – 65lb
• Red/Burgundy Card Stock
• 3 inch x 4 inch Self Sealing Bags

• Paper Folding Tool
• Gummy Worms – I like to use Trolli’s because they have a sugar coating on them and they don’t stick together like regular gummy worms.  I also included a link for regular gummy worms in case you don’t like Trolli’s.
• Color Printer
• Stapler and staples

Directions For Harry Potter Jelly Slugs

 

• Print the Harry Potter Jelly Slug label on white card stock.  So I printed 12 per page, so 4 rows by 3 columns.  I found this image on the internet by doing a general search of Harry Potter Jelly Slug labels.  The picture is of the actual Jelly Slug packaging. Then I cut out the rectangle in the middle of the label.

 

Note:  Any images found on the internet are for personal use only.  So if you wish to sell these, you must get permission from the image creator/owner and pay any fees.  Therefore, Major Gates only recommends images for personal use.

• Make a template with a piece of card stock.  So it should be 3 1/2 inches wide x 4 inches long.
• Now trace the template onto the card stock.  If you start in the corners, you will have less cutting and you can make four Harry Potter Jelly Slug backgrounds per page.

 

• Then cut out the backgrounds for the Jelly Slug labels.
• Next, fold the red card stock cut outs in half and straighten with the bone folding tool.  This tool will make the crease straight and smooth.

 

• The label is 3 1/2 inches wide, so do not buy bags that are wider.  Do a dry fit to make sure your Harry Potter Jelly Slug label is slightly larger than your bag.
• Then glue on the Jelly Slug label in the center of the card stick with the glue stick.

 

• Next place 6-8 gummy worms in the bag and secure with two staples over the bag and card stock.  Then staple one on each side of the bag.
• Add to your treats for Honey Dukes, sweets table or as a treat in favor bags.

 

• Favor bag ideas:  Harry Potter themed candy, slime, bookmarks, acceptance letter, Hogwarts supplies letter, Harry Potter magnets, juice, decorative water bottes, glasses, bracelets and cups.
