Harry Potter Party Banner
Making your own Harry Potter Party Banner is pretty easy. So if you can’t find one you like that is pre-made, then make your own. This project requires few supplies and most of the time is finding the images that you want to use. Another great thing about making your own banner is that there are many free downloadable free fonts on-line. Then just do a search for Harry Potter free fonts.
Another great thing about making your own banner is that it is custom. No one else will have the same banner and your party is truly custom for the party recipient. I like to use 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock and layer it for more depth. So making the template is pretty easy, and then you just replicate the tracing and cutting until you are done. Now let’s get to it!

Supplies You Need
- Card stock
- Scissors
- Ruler
- 5/8″ – 1 inch Ribbon of your choice
- Color printer
- Glue sticks
- Dual temperature mini glue gun and glue sticks
Directions For Harry Potter Party Banner
- Download a free Harry Potter font, found by doing an internet search.
- Print out the letters on card stock. Now you can print the letters and cut them out, or you can just print in the color of your choice large enough to just cut the banner.
- I printed the letters in a burgundy font and directly onto cream card stock.
- Then cut off the ends of the paper in a banner format. So, I made a template from the regular 8 1/2 ” x 11″ card stock. I used a ruler to measure 4 inches from the bottom corner on each side. Then I cut it out. I also cut an 1/2″ from the side, so the inner part of the banner would showcase the burgundy outer banner.
- Next, I used the ruler to measure 4 1/2 inches from the bottom corner of each side of the burgundy card stock and then cut of the bottoms.
- Then I used a glue stick and glued the letter sheet to the burgundy cardstock. Repeat until all letters are done, but create a couple blank banner sheets, so you can make the end pieces.
- To make the ends, do an internet search and find Harry Potter images you like. Then, print on regular 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock and hand cut out the image with scissors. Using a glue stick, glue the image to the banner templates.
Note: Any image that you find on the internet is for personal use only. So if you intend to sell banners, you must locate the image owner and get their permission to use their image for commercial purposes. The image owners may charge you a fee. All image suggestions on Major Gates are for personal use only.
- Now, attach the banner pieces (make sure the letters are going in the right direction or when you flip it over, it will be backwards). Then to conserve ribbon, I cut strips of ribbon and attach to the back. So be sure to also make extended ribbon strips on the ends for hanging.
- You are done! So hang up your Harry Potter Party Banner!
