Harry Potter Postage Boxes

Making Harry Potter Postage Boxes are pretty easy.  They are a great addition to a customized Harry Potter party, around the Christmas tree, or Harry Potter decor.  Although, any Harry Potter lover will love seeing or receiving some owl post.

I made some Harry Potter Postage Boxes for my twins birthday party.  They were great with adding details to the displays.  So I added them in every room.  In addition, I used them for height variances for the food platters, stacked them in various parts of the room for decor and on tables.  This is a vary affordable way to add customized touches to a Harry Potter themed party.  I also used some postage boxes for the photo backdrop wall and it worked out great. So, I put the photo prompts on top of the boxes for guests to have fun taking pictures in front of the themed photo wall.

So start collecting a few delivery boxes that a firm.  Therefore, once you collect enough, you will be ready to start making your owl post postage boxes.

Another great place to use Harry Potter Postage Boxes is on display tables.  So, I used them in the Owlry and placed pictures of the twins in their Harry Potter Robes with some other decor.  This table had the Thank You Favor Bags.

Instructions Harry Potter Postage Boxes

  • Start by conducting an internet search and get some Harry Potter themed or owl images.  Then, print them with a color printer, on white card stock, and cut them out. I was able to find various types of stamps and owl themed images.

NOTE:  Please note that any images found on the internet are for personal use only.  If you intend to sell items made with the images found, you must get permission of the image creator/owner. So, if you are printing images for a personal party, that is fine.   All images on Major Gates are for personal use only, unless otherwise stated.  A great place to get Harry Potter images, that you can reproduce for resale, is on Etsy.

  • Next, wrap the boxes and secure with tape.  So you may have to use packing tape to secure the box and regular tape to secure the wrapping.

  • Now tie on the twine.
  • Then glue on the mailing label, images and stamps.

  • Last, heat up the wax beads or sticks on the little spoon, then pour and press the seal.  My kids loved doing this part.  Just be careful with the candle and spoon.  It gets very hot and can burn you.  If you are letting your kids help, don’t leave them unsupervised.  Also, have an adult wipe off the spoon with a paper towel between each use.  THE SPOON WILL BE HOT!  So once you pour the wax, wait about 20 seconds before pressing the seal.  Also, hold the seal for about 30 seconds without moving it, so that it lifts cleanly and the image does not smear.

  • The Harry Potter Postage Box is done!  Repeat for as many boxes that you need.  So remember you can always make more!   In addition, I also wrapped actual presents like this for their birthday and for our Harry Potter Christmas Tree.
