Pringles Can Party Shaker Tops

Making Pringles Can Party Shaker Tops are so much fun.  This is a great way to customize a party with a cool element in the decorations.  Adding shaker tops to Pringles snack cans help set the party apart.  These make great party favors to guests as well.  In this post, I will be explaining how to make a shaker top for a Pringles chip snack can.  When buying these pre-made, it can get pretty expensive but they are so cute, they may be worth the price.  But, if you have a party budget that you need to stay within and have some time, making your own shaker tops are fun and cool.

You can make Pringles Can Party Shaker Tops for any theme.  They also will fit 1.3 ounce cans, as well as the 2.3-2.5 ounce Pringles cans.  They will even fit on the full size cans as well.  You can make the standing shaker tops or the dome shaker tops.  I will show you how I made both in this post without using a cutting machine.  So let’s start with the supplies you need.

Supplies

• Regular 65lb – 90lb white card stock
• 3 inch (80 mm) clear plastic fillable ornaments – you can get these on-line or when craft stores are selling Christmas items.  Cut off the hole hanging section on the ornament.

 

• Color printer for printing
• Sharp scissors
• Mini glue gun with mini glue sticks
• Regular glue stick
• Glitter card stock or matching theme card stock(optional)
• 1.3 ounce or 2.3-2.5 ounce Pringles Snack Cans (as many as you need for your event)
• Lightweight confetti  – foam balls, foil confetti, sequins, glitter, etc.

Directions For Pringles Can Party Shaker Tops

• Design or purchase your Pringles Snack Can labels.  I have some options in my shop but you can purchase these on places like Etsy to match your theme.  You can always design your own, but that effort is more time consuming to design and print correctly.  The labels are approximately 9.5″ wide and 4.5″ high when printed for the 2.3-2.5 ounce can size.  For the 1.3 ounce can, the label is approximately 9.7″ wide and 3.2″ high when printed.  The lid top labels are approximately 3″.
• Next, print out the labels on regular card stock and cut them out.

• Then apply a line of hot glue to the back side of the label and wrap around the can.  Then add another line of hot glue and secure the label.

 

• Next, glue the circle topper to the top of the can (the pullback tab) with the lid removed for the upright shakers.  Then for the dome shakers, glue on top of the lid.

• Now, make the shaker topper.  Start by cutting a circle a little larger than the 3″ circle on glitter card stock or other card stock that will match the theme.  I used a can product to cut my circle.  It was approximately 3.2″.

• Next, print some images that will fit in the dome of the ornament on card stock.  I use a free software called PhotscapeX.  They have a paid version but I have not needed it yet.  Here is the link if you are looking for an easy to use free software application for editing and I am not affiliated.  http://x.photoscape.org/

• Then, cut out the images and leave a little of the white paper at the bottom so you will have a place to fold a base.

• Now, hot glue on the image to the bottom of the ornament (if making a standing shaker), or to the lid (if making a dome shaker).

• It is optional, but you can also glue a label topper to the glitter card stock for more dimension.  You can also add a totally different pattern within the same theme to the glitter card stock.

• Now, turn over the half ornament and fill with confetti.  I like to do a confetti mix, so I add foil confetti, foam balls, sequins, glitter, etc.  So you want to add fillers that are light weight.

• Then, add glue around the base of the ornament and glue to the glitter card stock base (for upright shakers).  So for the dome shakers, place the Pringles can over the dome ornament.

• Next, for the upright shakers, at the bottom of the base, add a dab of hot glue and add to the Pringles can.  I also had to trim the edge of the glitter card stock to stand upright at the base.  Then hold for a few seconds until the shaker stays in place.

• You then can continue to add more decorations to the can or leave as is.
