Air Fryer Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls
Making Air Fryer Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls is one of my new favorite egg rolls. They are cheesy and delicious! As I continue to learn more recipes with my air fryer, the key is getting the cook times right. In addition, I love everything about the air fryer so far. Because it cooks things fast and uses minimal oil, the results are 10 times better than I ever expected.
To me, what makes a perfect Philly cheesesteak is the meat. Therefore the meat must be flavorful and tender. Another ingredient that makes the difference is the amount of cheese. Cheese is in the name, so it must be cheesy. So this recipe is great because you get to have cheesesteak without all the bread and by using the air fryer, you also get the deep fried taste without the oil from deep frying.
So if you are like me, you have an air fryer that just sat in the cabinet for a year and are now starting to use it. Then come on my journey as I explore new recipes that I will share are great.

- Large Yellow Onion
- 1 package of provolone cheese slices (10ct) – chop only 5 slices if you only made one steak
- 3/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Seasonings for steak marinade:
- 1 teaspoon of coarse black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of garlic salt
- 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of garlic/onion power
- 1 teaspoon of granulated garlic
- Water for sealing the egg roll wrappers
- Olive oil for brushing egg rolls
Supplies
- Air Fryer
- Frying Pan
- Baking Pan
- Knife
- Cooking Utensils – Spoon or spatula, scissors and basting brush
Directions For Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls
- Start by seasoning the steak(s) with the seasonings – Worcestershire sauce, coarse black pepper, garlic/onion powder, granulated garlic and garlic salt. Next, flip the steak over and make sure the whole steak is covered with seasonings. Then marinate the steak in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- Then while the steak is marinating, chop up the onions and bell peppers into small pieces and set to the side.
- Next, pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a frying pan, melt the butter. Then fry the steak for four minutes on each side and then place in baking pan. Bake the steak for 10 minutes but make sure you flip the steak over after 5 minutes.
- Remove the steak from the oven and allow it to rest for at least 10 minutes. It is important that steaks rest, so that the juices redistribute in the steak and it is juicy.
- Now, cut up the steak into small pieces.
- Next, drizzle some olive oil into the frying pan on medium-high heat. Then add in the chopped onion and bell peppers and sauté until veggies are cooked soft.
- Next, add in the chopped steak and stir. Reduce the heat to medium.
- Then add in the cheeses and stir. Leave stove on just until cheeses are melted and then turn off the stove.
- Now, allow Philly Cheesesteak mixture to cool for 10 minutes.
- Then take out the egg roll wrappers and place 2-3 tablespoons of Philly Cheesesteak mixture in the middle.
- Then fold the bottom corner first, then fold the sides. For a more secure egg roll, moisten the corners by light brushing with water. So I just get a small cup of water to dip the brush into.
- Next, brush the Air Fryer basket with olive oil. Then place the wrapped egg rolls into the basket and brush the tops of the egg rolls with olive oil.
- Cook on 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes, then turn over, brush again with olive oil and cook for 4 more minutes.
- Then allow to cool for 5 minutes so that you don’t burn your mouth from the hot cheese.
- If you like a dipping sauce, consider dipping in mushroom gravy. So I like Heinz or McCormick but Heinz is much cheaper at the grocery store but if you can’t venture out, here are the links. I am sure other brands will taste great too.
