Homemade French Fries
I love making homemade French fries. They are so easy to make and healthier than frozen or fast food fries. I make these for my family with a little seasoning. We like these lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The secret to great fries is using cold potatoes.
When you use cold potatoes, the fries stay lightly crispy on the outside and soft of the inside. The next secret is to cook fries in hot oil, but not smoking oil. If you are unsure of the temperature, use a cooking thermometer and the oil should be around 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Homemade French Fries are one of the easiest things you can make. You can eat them alone or as a side meal.

Ingredients For Homemade French Fries
- 1 large Russet potato per person
- Vegetable oil or frying oil
- Seasoning Salt
- Garlic Powder
- Dried Parsley Flakes
Supplies
- Frying Pan
- Cutting Board
- Sharp Knife
- Potato Peeler
- Draining Spoon
- Paper Towels
- Cooking Thermometer (Optional)
Directions For Homemade French Fries
- Start with refrigerated large potatoes and peel with the potato peeler.
- Then slice the potatoes and then cut the potatoes into thin strips.
- Next, add 2-3 cups of oil (depending on the size of your pan). Heat oil in fryer or frying pan on high heat until oil is hot, but not smoking.
- Fry the fries until light golden brown, about 7-8 minutes and then drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle with seasoning salt, garlic powder and dried parsley flakes.
- Serve the homemade French fries immediately!
