Muffuletta Sandwiches
Muffuletta Sandwiches are one of my favorite sandwiches to eat warm or at room temperature. These sandwiches are great for camping, hunting, the park, the beach or at home. I also like how you can make this sandwich ahead. The olive mixture absorbs more of the flavors if you make this at least the day before. Then you would just grill or bake it the day you need it.
I like to also serve muffuletta sandwiches for home parties. They taste great at room temperature and are very appealing sliders. The best part is the combination of the flavors. The olive mixture, ham and provolone come together perfectly. I also like to pair with wine for a good date night. For sides, you can serve with practically anything, like rice, potatoes, chips, fries, salad or cooked veggies.
Another great time to make muffuletta sandwiches is for game day. So whether you are having friends and family at home or tailgating, try making these sandwiches.

Ingredients
- Loaf of thick slice bread or 2 packages of slider buns
- 3 Tablespoons of olive oil
- 16 ounce package of thin sliced ham (any kind)
- 8 slices of provolone thin sliced cheese
- 5 /34 ounce jar of minced green stuffed olives
- 1 6 oz can of medium black olives
- 1/2 cup of roasted red peppers from jar (optional)
- 1 punch of fresh parsley – 1/2 cup finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon of coarse black pepper
- 2 teaspoons of dried Italian seasoning
- 2 teaspoons of minced garlic or 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
Supplies
- Mini food chopper
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Sharp knife
- Baking pan or panni grill
Directions For Muffuletta Sandwiches
- Start by adding the jar of green olives and the can of black olives to the food processor.
- Next, add in the roasted red peppers and minced garlic.
- Chop until mixed and then spoon into a bowl.
- Then chop the fresh parsley in the food chopper. You will need about 1/2 of cup of chopped parsley.
- Now, add the chopped parsley and mix in the bowl.
- Add to the mixture, the olive oil, coarse black pepper and Italian seasoning and mix in well.
- Pre-heat grill or oven to 375° Fahrenheit.
- Spray a light layer of cooking oil on the top and bottom of the grill. Then add a thick sliced piece of toast on the grill. I do this while the grill is heating up. Next, I top it with two slices of provolone cheese, a few tablespoons of muffuletta mixture and then several slices of ham.
- Then I add two more provolone slices of cheese and then top with the bread.
- Last, spray the tops of the bread with cooking oil, close the lid and cook for 4-5 minutes. The tops should be lightly golden brown with grill marks.
- Serve the muffuletta sandwiches while warm or at room temperature. These are great with a side salad, potato salad, kettle chips, French fries, etc.
- You can also make these as sliders. They are great at room temperature. So just follow the same steps as above, but everything is just smaller.
- I cut the slices of cheese into quarters and place 2 at the bottom, then top with the muffuletta mixture and ham. Lastly, I top with 2 more slices of cheese and place on the top buns.
- Then just cover the pan with foil, and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted. The muffuletta sandwiches are ready for your party or event!
