Oreo Cupcakes
Oreo cupcakes are for Oreo lovers. This is a moist and delicious cupcake that just melts in your mouth. These cupcakes are easy to make and loved by all that try them. The key to them being so moist is the vegetable oil and sour cream. Another secret is to not over mix the batter once you add in the crushed Oreos.
I also like how you can use a box mix as the base to make this an easy recipe. So if you want a different type of cupcake that everyone will enjoy, give these Oreo cupcakes a try!

Directions For Oreo Cupcakes
- Pre-heat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
- Line the cupcake pans with cupcake liners,
- Take 24 Oreo’s and spilt them in half and place the cream side of the cookie onto the bottom of the cupcake liner. You will use about 9-12 Oreo’s of the plain side for the frosting.
- Next, sift the cake mix into a large mixing bowl
- Then, in another bowl, gently whisk eggs, oil, buttermilk, sour cream and vanilla extract. Now add the wet mixture to the cake mix and mix on low speed until blended.
- Now, add 20 Oreo’s to a storage bag and seal 95% of the way. Then squeeze the air out and seal 100%. Next, with the flat side of the mallet, bang and crush the Oreos until they break into small chunks but not mushy,
- Then, fold in the crushed cookies into the batter.
- Now, scoop into the cupcake liners three quarters of the way full and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick or knife comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to fully cool before frosting.
- So while the cupcakes are cooling, make the frosting. I cheat and use a container of store brought frosting. Scoop out the frosting into a medium sized bowl. Now add 2 Tablespoons of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of cornstarch, and mix well with a spatula. Use around 9-12 of the reserved Oreo tops and roughly chop them. Then add them to the frosting mixture and mix well with the spatula.
- Decorate your Oreo Cupcake and top with a mini Oreo or chunks of Oreo. For parties or events, drop the cupcake in a decorative wrapper to match your theme.
