Bertie Bott’s And Boxes

You can make Bertie Bott’s Boxes as decorations or hand out as favors filled with real jelly beans. Therefore, this is a great idea when creating a mini Honey Dukes for a Harry Potter party or event. This is one detailed addition that will set your event or party apart. Who doesn’t want Bertie Bott’s, Every Flavour Beans? All Harry Potter fans will want a box.

When you fill the Bertie Bott’s box with real jelly beans, they make perfect party favors. Then just purchase a large container/bag of jelly beans, fill a a sealing jewelry bag and insert into the box.

In this post, I will also show you how to make faux jelly beans and how to create the Bertie Bott’s Box. You can use these as Harry Potter prompts or decorations or turn them into Christmas ornaments. Then just seal the box with Mod Podge, add some corded ribbon and hang.

65 lb White Regular Card Stock

Directions For Bertie Bott’s And Boxes

Start by doing an internet search for Bertie Bott’s Box templates and save it to your computer. I found this one I liked, and saved it down to my computer.

NOTE: Please know that any images that you save from the internet are for personal use only. If you plan to sell these or reproduce these for other reasons, you need to get permission from the image owner. The image owner may charge you a fee to use their image.

Next, cut out the box. Be careful not to cut off the white flaps. So in order to cut out the inside parts, use a craft knife or small sharp scissors.
Then, make creases along the fold lines with the bone folder tool.

Now, roughly fold over the creased parts.

Then cut small pieces of cellophane and tape them on the inside of the box.

Now cut slits on the side of the box where the flaps will go with the craft knife. But be careful not to cut from edge to edge. You are cutting an opening just wide enough to fit the flap in.

Fill a sealable jewelry bag with jelly beans and seal the box. They are ready for a favor bag or Harry Potter display.

HowTo Make Faux Jelly Beans

Tear the air drying clay into small pieces and mold with your fingers into the shape of a jelly bean. So make sure you do not leave the clay bag open and only tear off small chunks at a time or you will dry out the clay.
Allow the jelly beans to dry overnight on a non-paper surface (or the faux jelly beans will stick to the paper).

Then insert several golf tees into the floral foam. Now paint the jelly beans as much as you can and then set on the tees to dry. Drying time is about 2 hours before turning them over to paint the other side.

Allow the faux Bertie Bott’s jelly beans to fully dry before putting into the bag or they will stick together. I like to use metallic or enamel paints so they have a shimmer finish, like a glossy jelly bean.

Then fill up the jewelry bag with Bertie Bott’s and seal the bag. Now add the Bertie Bott’s to the box and close the box. You could also top with a decorative bow.

They are ready to display or make as a Christmas ornament. If you want to change this into an ornament, just cut small holes into the top with your craft knife. Then add some corded ribbon, seal the ribbon with hot glue and paint the box with Mod Podge Gloss to seal. That way you can have these for years.
