Harry Potter Book Ornaments
If you love Harry Potter or know someone that does, try making these Harry Potter Book Ornaments. They are a charming addition to the Christmas tree or Christmas wreath. So, I made these for my son who is a huge Harry Potter fan. These book ornaments are made from large matches boxes, regular white paper, and book cover print outs on regular white cardstock. I have also made these Harry Potter Book Ornaments as gifts to other Harry Potter fans.
The supplies are simple to make Harry Potter Book Ornaments. Therefore, this is a craft that someone new to crafting can do. Most of the supplies you have at home. You can find the book cover images on-line but if you make these, know they are for personal use and can not be sold without permission of the owner of the images.

Directions For Harry Potter Book Ornaments
- Find Harry Potter Book covers by doing an on-line book cover search and save the images to your computer.
- Then remove the plastic around the matches box and cut down the long side of the matches box on the non-lighting side. Cut along the lines to remove the middle.
- Print out the book covers on the white card stock. Also, you may have to increase or decrease the image to make sure it will fit around the matches box. So to do this, you can open the image in Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint or any photo imaging application.
- Next, cut out the book cover and do a dry fit on your match box. So the length should exceed 1/2″-1″ on each end in order to fold over and glue. It is okay if the length is longer. The important thing is to make sure the book cover front and back images fit.
- Then, line up the book cover and fold over. Using a bone craft folder helps with making the folding easier. Also, make sure the entire front cover is showing on the front and the spine is clear of wording.
- Next, hot glue the sides down on the matches box.
- Then attach the ribbon or twine in a loop to hang the ornament. So, the length should be about 4 inches before you make the loop.
- Cut out your sheets of paper. Then create a template by measuring 12 cm x 11 1/2 cm and cut out the sheets. So you will need 30-35 sheets per book.
- Fold sheets in half and stack until you have 30-35. So if there are too many sheets, they will fall out of the book.
- Gather the group of sheets and glue inside the book cover.
- Then repeat for all the books.
- Hang on the tree.
