Best Grilled Cheese With Ham
My son says I make the best grilled cheese with ham, so I decided to share with you all how I make it. The recipe is pretty simple and it is delicious. Grilled cheese and ham goes great with tomato soup, creamy bisque, homemade fries, side salad or by itself. The best part is that grilled cheese with ham will only take a few minutes and can be served for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

- 2 slices of bread – we use honey wheat
- Country Crock Spread – any of them but we use with calcium. You could also use spreadable butter.
- Cooking Spray
- 1 slice of Cheddar cheese
- 2 slices of American cheese
- 2 slices of your favorite ham
- Mustard
Supplies
- Griddle/Pancake Pan
- Butter knife
- Cooking Scissors
- Toaster
Directions for the Best Grilled Cheese With Ham
- Spray the cooking pan with cooking spray over the sink. The reason you spray the pan over the sink is so that you do not get over spray on the counter or stove.
- Lightly toast the bread in the toaster for a few minutes. So the bread should be very lightly toasted, so that it has a firm start.
- Spread one side of the bread with country crock spread and place the buttered side on the grilling pan.
- Squirt or spread some mustard on the bread.
- Next add the Cheddar cheese and 2 slices of the American cheese.
- Then add the ham.
- Squirt or spread some more mustard on the ham.
- Butter the other slice of toast and place with the butter side up. The buttered sides are the sides that cook in the pan.
- Turn on the stove to medium to medium low heat. You want to give the cheese time to melt without burning the bread.
- Spray the grilled cheese again with cooking spray.
- Once the cheese starts to melt but not oozing out of the side, flip it over and allow the ham side to warm. So the the first side should have a nice golden brown color.
- Check in a minute or two to see the bread color. Then, if it is done, transfer to a plate. If not, cook for another minute or two. It will depend on how high or low the heat is on your stove. So it is okay to cook on low heat, it will just take a little longer but your sandwich will be heated through.
- Allow to cool on a plate for 3-5 minutes or when you cut the sandwich all the cheese will ooze out and it is ruined and messy.
- Cut the grilled cheese and ham sandwich and eat by itself or with your favorite side. Therefore, this is perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner or those days you don’t feel like cooking.
