Chicken Fajita Marinade
If you want to know exactly what is going into your chicken fajita marinade or save some money, create your chicken fajita marinade at home. I use this recipe to make delicious chicken fajitas for make ahead meals. When I get chicken on sale, this is a great way to season and freeze it. Then on the day you want to have fajitas, just take out of the freezer and thaw. It is already marinated, so you don’t have any prep, just cook and serve.
In this post, I will share how I make my easy chicken fajita marinade. You will be surprised how easy it is and then question why pre-marinaded chicken fajitas are marked up 30% or more. Plus, you know exactly what is in your marinade without the chemicals, colors or preservatives. So, you can make chicken fajita marinade in batches or just for the day.
I use my food saver to vacuum seal bags of this, so they are flat and put it in the freezer. This is great for people that are busy. Chicken fajitas are great for beach trips, camping and outdoor grilling.

- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/2 bottle of beer
- 2 Tablespoons of Chili Powder
- 2 Tablespoons of Lime Juice
- 1 Tablespoon of Spanish Style Paprika
- 2 Tablespoons of Honey
- 2 Tablespoons of Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of cumin
Supplies
- Large bowl with lid
- Measuring cup
- Measuring spoons
- Freezer bag or food saver bag (if storing for future use or travel)
- Kitchen Shears or Sharp Kniffe
Directions For Chicken Fajita Marinade
- Rinse off chicken in cold water and place in a large bowl. Then slice or cut the chicken into strips.
- Next, coat the chicken with the oil and mix with your hands.
- Then, add the beer and mix with your hands.
- Last, add all the other ingredients and mix with your hands. Then cover and marinate at least 2 hours, or for best results, overnight.
- If you are freezing, add the chicken to the freezer bag with a generous portion of the liquid. So be careful as you squeeze out the air, not to make a spilling mess. Or, if you are using a food saver, use a large bag or cut off a large part of the roll to hold the juices while you vacuum the air out.
- When you are ready, thaw, cook and eat. Enjoy!
