Hot Chili Infused Olive Oil
Making hot chili infused olive oil, is very easy. Using this oil will add some extra spice to meats, salads, rice, bread dips, and so much more. When you make infused olive oils at home you control the spice level of how intense the heat should be. There are a few food safety things to consider to make your oil last longer but that is about it. For instance, you need to start with clean, completely dry containers/bottles. Also, you need to use ingredients that are commercially freeze dried or dehydrated. The equipment and process used commercially will ensure the spices were dried correctly and sterile. Also, you don’t want to touch your ingredients with your bare hands. You need to wear gloves.
Hot Chili Infused Olive Oil is a great gift or favor. I made these as favors for a wedding. They were easy to make and an affordable DIY project. These would be great to make for the holidays and bring to the host for dinners and parties.

Directions Hot Chili Infused Olive Oil
- Wash containers and make sure they are all the way dry.
- Using 1 funnel, add in the dried chili flakes – 2-3 teaspoons for a 6 ounce jar.
- Then, add in 4-5 dried chilis.
- Next, with the other funnel, add in the olive oil. So fill until almost full (about 1 inch) and seal with lid.
- Make a label. I made the labels using PhotoScapeX. It is a free editing program and I am not affiliated. Here is the link. http://x.photoscape.org/ They have a paid version but the free one meets my needs. Then I printed the labels on sticker paper, cut them out and affixed them to the bottles.
- Then store in a dark, cool place, away from direct sunlight. Use as a finishing or dipping oil. The flavors will deepen over the next 2 weeks. These make great favors and gifts for friends.
NOTES:
- Infused oil safety: Use only commercially dried peppers and chili flakes. So do not substitute with fresh, cooked, or marinated peppers.
- Use the oil within 3 months.
