Bling Baseball Hats
Most ladies love a bling hat that adds a little sparkle in their lives. I have made a few bling baseball hats in the past with rhinestones. But the best ones I get the most compliments are made with Swarovski crystals. Making a custom bling baseball hat is pretty easy. You also will gain respect for anything that is made with Swarovski crystals since they must be each hand applied. The shimmer Swarovski crystals give to objects is not matched with regular rhinestones or gems.

I will share the way I attach the crystals to make great bling baseball hats. So I recommend giving these bling baseball hats as birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, mother’s day, bridal party gifts or for a best friend.

Supplies For A Bling Baseball Hat
- Baseball Hat with an appliqué or embroidered shape of your choice
- E6000 Clear Industrial Strength Adhesive
- 16ss Clear Xirius Flatback Swarovski crystals. You will need at least 100 of this size (16ss) to fill in most letters on a hat. If you are doing a character such as Mickey Mouse or a cross or a letter such as “M”, you will need about 150-200.
- Round toothpicks – no color
- Small paper or plastic plate
- Large tweezers, gem tool or pick me up tool
- Small container to hold the crystals

Tips Before Getting Started
- A great way to cheat but get a great hat is to order a hat that has an applique or embroidered shape or letter you want to use. Then, you do not have to worry about how to shape it yourself and you have an outline to work with.
- I have tried many craft glues and the only one I can confirm holds the Swarovski crystals and dries clear is E6000. Some glues dry cloudy on the gems and ruin the sparkle. So learn from my mistakes and only use E6000 for this project.
- When I started making bling baseball hats, I had no idea that the Swarovski crystals came in so many sizes. The easiest one that gave the right look without being so small that the project would take days is the size 16ss. The size that is smaller is 12ss and the size a little bigger is 20ss. So the size I recommend the most is 16ss for almost anything.
- You can make some great hats with rhinestones as well, they just won’t shimmer in the light as much. So I suggest making bling baseball hats for smaller kids with gems or rhinestones. You will be okay if they pop them off which they will do. Here is a hat I made with rhinestone gems.
- To bling out a baseball hat takes 1-2 hours unless you also do the trim. If you trim the hat, it could take another 2 hours to complete.
Directions For Bling Baseball Hat
- Have all your supplies ready to go so that when you squeeze a little E6000 glue on the plate, you are ready to work.
- Squeeze about a dime size dab of glue on the plate.
- With a toothpick, spread a thin layer of glue on the edge or starting part of your hat. Do not jump around with spreading the glue and do not cover the entire image or trim with glue. This is like painting, so you need to keep a wet edge of glue when you work.
- Pour out a few crystals and turn them right side up. With your pick-up tool or tweezers start in a corner or edge and add your first crystals. You have to work as fast, depending on how much glue you put on the hat. So this is why you should work in small sections.
- Add to the wet glue edge with more glue on the toothpick, then add more bling crystals to the baseball hat. Repeat over and over until covered.
- If you are adding trim to the baseball hat, then start at a corner and work your way across in small sections until it is done. I used black and clear size 16ss for this hat’s trim.
- Let dry for at least 5 hours before using. Whoever it is for, will love their new bling baseball hat.
