Harry Potter Favor Bags

For parties, I like to make my own favor bags to hand out to guests as they leave. I try to include things that I make so the experience is unforgettable and tailored to the theme of the party. For my twins party this year, I made Harry Potter Favor Bags with tons of goodies inside. For days after the party, I would get texts about how much their kids are still enjoying the content of the favor bags.

To make favor bags of any theme, you just have to start with a Kraft regular gift bag and your imagination. I often use Kraft bags because you can tailor the theme to anything you like. The Kraft bag worked perfect for these Harry Potter Favor Bags.

Supplies

Medium size Kraft Brown Paper Bags ( 8 x 4.5 x 10.5) – purchase the number you need on-line, at your local craft store or dollar store. I buy in bulk since I use for multiple parties and gifts. They sell these is various other sizes but the 10.5 inch is my favorite size. If you need a large bag get (10 x 5 x 13).
Tissue Paper
Regular 65-67lb White Card Stock
Images downloaded or saved from the internet (I did purchase the Harry Potter clip art images in this post from Etsy)
Scissors
1/8 inch – 1/2 inch Satin Ribbon in the color of your choice
Glue Sticks
Color Printer
Single Hole Punch (also sold at dollar stores and craft stores)

Directions For Harry Potter Favor Bags

Search the internet for images that match your party and save to your computer.
Then print the images onto the white card stock in the desired size to fit on your favor bag.
I usually print a large image of the main theme first, like Harry Potter. That is printing one image per page or two images per page. So I use a free photo imaging application called Photoscape, but there are many other free applications that do the same thing.
Next, is hand cutting your main image and dry fitting on the favor bag to see if you like the size and placement. Make any print adjustments needed.
If you would like a background, you can either print the desired background from background images found on the internet, or purchase scrapbook paper. Then cut the scrapbook paper to size from your local craft store.

Then glue the back of the image with your glue stick and affix to the favor bag.

Cut out any images you want to glue to the back of the bag and glue.

You can find blank gift tag labels on the internet and cut them out. Use a single hole punch to make a hole and tie the ribbon through the top and affix to bag.
Fill with goodies and stuff two colored tissue paper at the top.
The goodies I put in the bag were: Custom water bottle, HP Key chain, Felix Felicis Lemonade, slime with custom label, custom magnets, handmade bookmark, Jelly Slugs (Trollis with custom label), Dementor’s Kiss Away with custom label, homemade chocolate frogs, HP Tattoo, handmade wand pencils, handmade spell book, smiley Rubix, Acceptance to Hogwart’s letter, Hogwarts School Supply list, HP Glasses, HP Bracelet, and HP Origami. I bought in bulk on-line and made the rest to keep costs down.
